DETAILED PROGRAM

“End of summer on Mt Kosciuszko”

organised by the Strzelecki Heritage Inc and Strzelecki Hiking Club.

The event aims to promote Snowy Mountains and

especially Mt Kosciuszko summit in Australia through sport.

It will give the participants an opportunity to learn about the history and geography of this region.

Participants will be able to choose one of the four ways to conquer Mt Kosciuszko:

1. Strzelecki Hike

3 day bush walk via a difficult trail, starting from the Geehi via Hannels Spur and Mt Townsend to the top of Mount Kosciuszko. Strzelecki Hike will begin on Friday, 10th of February at 6AM and finish on Sunday, 12th of

February around 9AM.

2. Kosciuszko Run

11km mountain run, starting from Charlotte Pass on Sunday, 12th of February at 10AM. The run is only suitable for experienced mountain runners as it requires excellent physical fitness.

3. Kosciuszko Ride

riding to Mt Kosciuszko summit on a mountain bike. - starts also at Charlotte Pass on Sunday, 12th of February at 8:30AM.This option also requires good level of fitness. It starts at Charlotte Pass at 8:30AM.

4. Strzelecki Walk

Medium level of fitness required.

STRZELECKI HIKE 2012

Beginning of the hike. Not too long distance via Hannels Spur Track, but very steep and overgrown 6.5 KM HARD at Moiras Flat around 5PM-6PM

SECOND DAY OF OUR HIKE - Saturday

of Mount Kosciuszko by Sir Pawel Edmund Strzelecki in 1840. It is a 11km run through Australia’s High Country aimed at

promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, whilst showcasing the beauty of the mountain and teaching a new generation

about the history of the highest peak in Australia and the life of Tadeusz Kosciuszko.

DESCRIPTION:

( not permitted within wilderness areas). Pick up a bike from Charlotte Pass and have ride you never forget! This is an

alternative for those who want to get to the top of Mt Kosciuszko in another way.

DISTANCE: 22 km

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: easy-medium

APPROX. RIDING TIME: 2-3h

MT KOSCIUSZKO-CHARLOTTE PASS (VIA MAIN RANGE WALK)
Start time: 8.30 am

DESCRIPTION:

Participants of the Strzelecki Walk will come back to Charlotte Pass via Main Range Walk. Finish at Charlotte Pass NSW, Australia,

Sunday afternoon time. Very easy, flat and soft ground, and fantastic views.

The walk grants views of Blue, Club and Albina Lakes. This main range circuit is one of the classic walks in New South Wales, as

the views in clear weather extend all the way over the mountainous landscape to the distant horizon.

DISTANCE: 22 km

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: easy-medium

WALKING TIME: 2-3h each way

MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT

& JINDABYNE

DESCRIPTION:

the Mt Kosciuszko summit for all the participants who make it to the top.

Following the anthem, participants will return to Charlotte Pass, via beautiful route along the Main Range Walk or

Kosciuszko Rd. (the choice is yours) and then continue to Jindabyne.

Further entertainment is scheduled at 4PM in Banjo Paterson Park, in Jindabyne. Paulina Caine and Sylvester Gladecki

will perform their original songs to officially close the “End of Summer on Mt Kosciuszko 2012”.
